Gray Vireo - Vireo vicinior
|
Order
Passeriformes
Family
Vireonidae
Genus
Vireo
Description: The Gray Vireo has a small range and spends its summers in the Southwestern part of the United States before moving south to spend its winters in Northwest Mexico. This bird is not as easily identified in the field, but if one can get a good enough look at this bird they may notice its blu-ish legs, hooked bill, and complete eye ring. These are characteristics of most Vireos, but the Gray Vireo can be distinguished from other members of its family by its faint eyering, pale underparts, and dark gray wings and tail when it is in flight.
